LPI exams: Lpi - See Novell 'cle' link this is a commercial 'server' product] Not sure I want to any more lpi as we do not do sendmail (and apparently in detail) in the other exams OK yes sendmail works - but there are nicer mta's out there which we are happy with. Even though Comptia do a Linux exam they from memory have some odd ideas on software patents, also the Comptia exam was supposed to be very basic from reports heard. So an exam taken with Comptia about Linux just misses the point and helps the 'wrong' people.

Linux professional see lpi as well. - 9 refers to a Novell version of a 'product', I doubt you will find many of us. - This is not a Lotus/IBM certification and thats what Novell call it. As to the inflation factor - well thats life.

Linux 'engineer' see lpi Free exam. based on Sles 8/Novell Nterprse Nterprise Linux Services Is a product like netware sitting on Linux has a few bugs here and there (our apache config is way better) but a halfway 'step' between netware and linux. Novell have gone back to there roots, in a way with this product, as very old netware (?1?) sat on top of os/2 if the grey matter works properly. Simulation exam, not the traditional format. Quite hard to find a place where you can take the exam, and when you do take it is v e r y s l o o w

Novell Certification.

It all started here, been there and done that with Novell, LPR Gateways, SFT, Version 2 and 3 .11 and 3.12, multiple servers in multiple offices cared for plus arcserve, document management under Softsolutions . Record keeping at Novell has since been revised if you spot the error in the 5 certificate - , apparently I am also a Cna in version 6 according to the transcript - (an interesting take on upgrade exams)

Most is 'hands on', a lot of it is very old, but Novell, like Microsoft does not really change much the internals (drivers etc) and commands do, but they still achieve the same thing. (do we really need exams to say that you can do something?

Training and certification can be a racket on a par with the mafia. I like to reuse things for instance like we all use tcpip, and I like to 'recycle' exams.

I like there exams to a point, they are written in English, rather than the catch you out english used by Microsoft, but they do have spelling mistakes in (like mine is perfect) , the exams that use additional software do leave much to be desired and they do like to follow their courses to the letter its seems you have to answer in the 'Novell course' way - what came first the exam or the course? * For the observant of you 683 'duplicate' above is an actual novell mistake too and not a typo.

I also have done the usual bridging, routing and stuff as well, but that's so boring when people start telling you eunet is down even I start to think 'get a life' Related Microsoft exams in: 2000 Professional LINK.

Microsoft Certifications. Oh Well everybody else is/was, so here are mine, after all it is a windows world out there. I do prefer the wine Linux emulator better. Anyhow on with the show. The humour (eg bugs) in their technical publications is great.

Did not see the point - but if your a HR person/hey we can use Word - because Microsoft says so. Notice: now use open office now. Microsoft user exams taken.

Lotus did three levels of certification PCLP,CLP,CLS (in order of highest requirement to lowest). Principal Certified Lotus Professional, Certified Lotus Professional, and Certified Lotus specialist. This is the lowest and means that one exam has been passed in the Administration area of a certain release number of a product. A CLP qualification means taking more exams (at least three) in the path to be become CLP qualified. Principal means going further and if I understand it means to an enterprise level

In Release 6, the CLS , CLP and CLP will be IBM branded to CA CP CAP. So I have began to put these in but with the 'legacy' or sunset name beneath.
